Inflatable Plug

DOMEHEAD

Domeheads are fabricated with several layers of nylon cord (more on larger sizes) laid on a patented cross-bias system, then covered with ozone-protected natural rubber compound. The Domehead Plug is designed to grow shorter as inflated which puts less stress on the plug, making this a unique multiple-size plug. The Domehead can be floated down line and stopped at any given point, eliminating the need to go down the manhole to install or remove the plug.

The original Domehead™ Plug was the world’s first wide-range multiple-sized plug, expanding more than 2.5 times its normal circumference. Utilizing cross-biased reinforcing cord for controlled growth and strength, safety was increased as the sidewall stresses were relieved and the plug actually became stronger. The brand new Super Domehead now goes a step beyond and offers greater safety margins of inflation, standard 3/4” isolation and 1/4” gauge read back ports as well as optional flow through capabilities from 2” to 8”.

Incorporating experiences with other rubbers into the design, Indianapolis Industrial Products has introduced a truly lasting product for use in oil and chemical lines. Indianapolis Industrial Products Domehead Plugs can be manufactured with specially compounded rubbers to meet the requirements of particular applications. Indianapolis Industrial Products Domehead with nitrile rubber has an outstanding performance record at one of the nation’s leading oil refineries, retaining harsh erosive chemicals for reconstruction and repair.
